Today, we are excited to welcome Houston Graduate School of Theology (HGST) as the newest Kairos legacy partner!
After considerable prayer and with much enthusiasm, the board of Houston Graduate School of Theology in Houston, TX, unanimously accepted our invitation to join Kairos, our global network that includes five schools and over 30 partner organizations around the world. HGST will become a legacy partner within Kairos, which means members of its board will join the board of Sioux Falls Seminary (now often referred to as the Kairos board). For the next couple of years, Houston Graduate School of Theology will share most academic programs and operations with us, leading to full integration into Kairos by summer of 2023.
With the addition of HGST, the resources and options available to students continue to expand. Among the enhancements, Houston Graduate School of Theology provides students with the opportunity to pursue a Doctor of Professional Counseling. In addition, its Master of Arts in Counseling, which is accessible online and helps students prepare for licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor, provides another option for students preparing to serve as counselors or therapists. The students and faculty of HGST also provide an important perspective on how the Kairos Project might better serve students in urban settings.
The network of schools, which includes the seminary as well as Taylor Seminary, Evangelical Seminary, and BLI School of Ministry, and Houston Graduate School of Theology, is larger than 90% of the accredited seminaries in North America. Students originate from six continents, 28 countries, and over 70 different denominations and study in Spanish, English, French, and Portuguese. Programs offered range from bachelor’s level to research level doctoral degrees.
Going forward, the Kairos Project will continue to offer innovative approaches to collaboration that will empower partners from around the world to steward followers of Jesus who flourish in their vocation for the sake of the world. As a network of schools, churches, ministries, and other kingdom-minded organizations, Kairos will share resources, ideas, and learning in order to make the Christ-centered development of people more affordable, accessible, relevant, and faithful.
We welcome Houston Graduate School of Theology. We are excited to see what God has in store for the future!
